Becoming a U.S. citizen is a powerful milestone. At Immigration Universe Attorney, we guide individuals and families through every step of the naturalization process. Whether you’re applying through naturalization, parents, or another pathway, we’ll help you understand your rights and simplify the journey toward U.S. citizenship.

What is Naturalization?

Naturalization is the legal process by which a non-citizen becomes a U.S. citizen. It grants full rights and responsibilities, including the right to vote, obtain a U.S. passport, and sponsor family members for immigration benefits.

To apply, most individuals must file USCIS Form N-400 and meet specific requirements such as continuous residence, physical presence, good moral character, and passing the English test and civics test.

Are You Eligible for U.S. Citizenship?

Before applying, it’s essential to confirm that you meet the naturalization eligibility criteria. You may qualify if you:

  • Have held a green card for at least 5 years (or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen)
  • Have lived continuously in the U.S.
  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Can speak, read, and write basic English
  • Pass a U.S. civics test
  • Demonstrate good moral character

Our immigration attorneys will evaluate your case and identify any risks or delays before filing your application.

How We Help With the Naturalization Process

Our law firm provides full legal assistance from start to finish:

1. Case Review & Eligibility Assessment

We analyze your immigration history and determine if you’re ready to apply for citizenship or if you should wait to avoid potential issues during the USCIS interview.

2. Accurate Preparation of USCIS Form N-400

We prepare and review your application to ensure every detail is complete and correct. Small errors can lead to delays or rejections—our team makes sure your form is fully compliant.

3. Guidance for the USCIS Interview & Tests

We help you get ready for the USCIS interview, including tips for the English and civics tests. If you qualify for an exemption due to age or medical condition, we’ll help you apply.

4. Representation During the Process

We stay by your side from submission to approval. If USCIS requests additional evidence or schedules follow-up appointments, we take care of everything.

Dual Citizenship in the U.S.

The United States allows dual citizenship in many cases. That means you can keep your original nationality while becoming a U.S. citizen—depending on the laws of your home country.

Our attorneys will help you understand the implications of dual citizenship and make sure you meet all legal requirements.

Citizenship Through Parents

Some individuals automatically acquire U.S. citizenship through their parents, even without applying for naturalization. This depends on your date of birth, your parents’ status, and whether you lived in the U.S. before a certain age.

We’ll determine if you already qualify and help you file for a Certificate of Citizenship or U.S. passport if you’re eligible.

Why Work With a Citizenship Attorney?

Hiring a citizenship attorney can save you time, avoid costly mistakes, and increase your chances of approval. Our legal team ensures your application is solid from the start, especially if:

  • You have past immigration violations
  • You’ve traveled abroad extensively
  • You’ve had criminal charges or other legal issues
  • You’re applying under complex circumstances

At Immigration Universe Attorneys, we help individuals and families navigate every step of the naturalization process—from filing Form N-400 to preparing for the civics test and interview.

Depends. Dual nationality means that you are a national of two countries at the same time. Depending on the political relations with your country, you may be able to have both nationalities. U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one nationality or another. U.S. citizens may naturalize in a foreign country without any risk to his or her U.S. citizenship. Dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. Citizens are required to obey both countries’ laws, and the countries have the right to enforce its laws.

If you are a Green Card holder, you can apply for U.S. citizenship through a process called Naturalization. Most immigrants in the United States become citizens through the naturalization process. You must submit Form N-400 along with the applicable fees to USCIS and supporting evidence.

Green Card holders can apply for Citizenship through the naturalization process if:

  1. You had your Green card for at least 5 years, or 3 years if you are married to a United States citizen,
  2. Have maintained a physical presence in the U.S.,
  3. You are at least 18 years old,
  4. Are a person of good moral character,
  5. You can read, write, speak, and understand basic English.

You can apply for U.S. citizenship up to 90 (ninety) days before you become eligible. You can also apply at any time after you become eligible. There are no restrictions on the time to apply. Applying for citizenship is a personal decision, but considering all the benefits of U.S. citizenship, it is best to apply as soon as possible.

To apply for citizenship, you must submit all your documents to prove that you are eligible. The documents include a copy of your green card, civil records, documents relating to any arrests or conviction (if any), and evidence of your good moral character. Each naturalization applicant is unique and deserves individual assessment. You must submit the best evidence when you first apply to improve your chances of getting approved.

Immigration law has evolved rapidly in the last four years and is continuously changing.  If you have a Green Card and want to become a citizen of the United States, chances are that you are weighing the costs versus the benefits of the application.  However, you should consider that U.S. citizenship is an investment in your future.

USCIS currently charges a fee of $725.00 to apply for citizenship.  The fee is non-refundable and may be subject to change.  Our naturalization lawyers ensure that you submit the best application possible to give you peace of mind and save you time.

You are required to keep and safeguard your Naturalization certificate. However, if your certificate is lost or stolen, you can apply for a new one. You must submit Form N-565 with the applicable fees and supporting documents. Our naturalization lawyers can assist you with the replacement of a lost or stolen certificate of Naturalization.
